Kalanjay Dance Academy are an ensemble from Mumbai, the largest city in India. For them, their journey began in 1998, in the garage of Vaishali Sagar’s parents. At the age of 16, Sagar agreed to teach two friends a dance routine for their cousin’s upcoming wedding. The choreography was well received and before she knew it, Sagar was teaching 6 students on weekends. The first 6 students increased to 900 students and in the year 2000, the Kalanjay Dance Academy was founded. In recent years, the academy represented India at numerous international folk festivals. By doing so, they have gradually become a part of the Indian dance landscape. We are curious to see what they have in store for us!
