The group “Francisco de Goya” , began its adventure in 1950 and was established as an association in 1973 , with the aim of keeping alive the manifestations of folk art and preserving and promoting the traditional values of the community of Madrid . Currently, it consists of 35 people , including dancers , singers and musicians .
Their extensive repertoire includes dances from different parts of Spain (Andalusia , Aragon , Castile , Extremadura ) , but the main objective is based on the study and interpretation of the dances of the ” Escueal Bolera” which achieved great popularity in Madrid in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries . Boleros , Fandangos , Tiranas , Seguidillas , Panaderos and Jaleos were danced by the locals at festivals , pilgrimages , and all kinds of public events . The group was recognized by the “Escuela Bolera” for their elegance , style and technology in the performance . For the performances they use costumes worn by majos and majas, as depicted paintings and tapestries of Goya.
Since its inception, the Group has performed on many national and international festivals ( England, Finland , Poland , Jaca , Murcia , Belgium , Netherlands , France , Italy , Greece ,
Romania , Brazil , Turkey , Germany , USA , Hungary , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Canada , Cyprus , Argentina , Bulgaria , Croatia , … )
The association has participated in the recording of the soundtrack and the shooting of the film ” Goya ‘s Ghosts ” directed by Milos Forman.
